Muriwai beach

At the beach on a scorching day out west with 60 kids sprinting their legs out past 6 people ready to pounce on anyone left behind. 3 rounds of 'octopus' and then more work, racing others to get a flag till we found the glorious winner. Afterward it was time for the water, the most exciting part of the day. Using an awkward running technique we ran at the water. A strong current greeted us pulling multiple victims down. After hi-fiving a very bewildered parent we had 8 minutes of free time (A.K.A 8 minutes of annihilation by waves). After a tiring time in the water we had a good 15 minute talk about rips and what to do when you're in one. It was a fun day at the beach.
