TiriTiri Maitingi
Carefully getting off the boat, everybody makes way across the bridge. Then somebody spots a creature lying flat on the ground. Already an amazing start, with the sun shining down and the peaceful atmosphere all around. We make our way through the trees hiding the birds within. Multiple songs or squawks fill the air as we spot one, looking around lazily perched high above our heads. We continue along running into a few others. We walk and walk as my leg starts to ache and I hope we are close, but no, we still have quite a long way to go. Stopping at a bird bath/drinking place we sit down and wait but no birds come near. We stand up and are about to leave until two birds come down for a drink. What's so fascinating about a bird drinking I wonder? A small one dunks itself in the water shaking its head and body letting water splash around. We continue along until we are finally there. I meet up with my friends and we go to take a look at the view. Beautiful. The view was simply beautiful. After taking a few pictures its time to head off back.... We have to walk all the way back again??? But this time it's quicker, and the overall, putting aside the heat and long walk, it was a good experience to see new birds or insects and learn more about the country I live in.
